What is Ergonomic about the receptacles?

  • The large receptacle EC2626 has one side door that folds down.  So the garbage bag inside is pulled out horizontally instead of vertically.  Thus it may reduce back & neck/shoulder stress injury known as Musculoskeletal Disorders.

How do the trash bags lock into place so they never “fall-in” or need to be tied off on the trash bin?

·          The unique design of the sides of the receptacles provides an area for the bags to be inserted onto fitting snuggly on the side tops.  Then any ErgoCan lid has ribs that lock onto the side tops.  Thus the lid locks the bag onto the side tops.  IT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOU ONLY USE THE EXACT SIZE BAGS FOR THIS FEATURE TO WORK.   EC1119 use 26” width bag.  EC2626 use 48” width bag.   Both are available for purchase on the Product Page.

Is their different pricing available for volume purchases?

  • Yes.  Our distribution partners stock our products and can adjust pricing based on competitive information.   Contact us at customerservice@ErgoCan.com for a distributor near you.

Do you provide Grants for University and schools for recycling programs?

  • Yes.  When we set up a comprehensive receptacle recycling program at a school, based on budget information provided we can provide a Grant for a portion of the receptacles for the program.   Contact us at customerservice@ErgoCan.com for further information.

Do you offer other size panels other than those listed on the website?

  • Yes.  While we primarily manufacturer display panels for the ErgoCan system, we also will manufacturer display panels for competing systems.  Contact us at customerservice@ErgoCan.com for further information.

What size is the font on the sign?

  • The size of the text will depend on your font and size choices. The printed sign will be exactly proportional to your design proof. For example, if your sign is 6″ high and your lettering occupies about 2/3 of the height, then your lettering is about 4″ tall.

May I choose the type of material my design is printed on?

  • Graphic display panels made of PVC board finished in semi-gloss  hot liquid lamination for durability, UV protection and clean ability.  And brings out “Eye Popping” color.

How durable are the display panels and what type of printing technology do you use?

  • Our standard printing we use large format digital UV printing technology; this allows us to print directly on the substrate (material).
  • As a special request we can use large format digital Solvent printing technology to produce high definition and richer tone graphics.  It is printed on 3 year gloss vinyl and mounted to a substrate.   Contact us at customerservice@ErgoCan.com for further information.
  • Our standard display panel material is art board.  It designed for indoor use with a limited life of 1 year.  However it may last longer based on use and environmental conditions.
  •  For long term or heavy traffic indoor use, we recommend that our standard art board be laminated for durability, UV protection and clean ability.  It is offered in High Gloss or Semi-Gloss.
  • For outdoor use we recommend PVC board for durability and laminated for UV protection.

.

What type of files can be uploaded and the size?

  • The maximum file size 20mg.
  • We strongly recommend PDF file format.  See PDF Templates on the Upload Page.
  • We can accept EPS but they must be flatten before they uploaded.  Follow the same rules as creating a PDF.  See question, How do I create a PDF?

What size are the Display Panels?

  • EC1119 (small receptacle): Small display panel 9.3”w X 26.375” (26-3/8)   Large display panel 17.8125” (17-13/16”) w X 26.375” (26-3/8) h.
  • EC2626 (large receptacle):  All panel sizes 22.25” (22-1/4) w. X 30” h.

o    IMAGE AREA:  The side channels’ covers the display panels by 1/4″ (.25).  The top (lid) and bottom channel covers the display panel by 1/2″ (.5).  When creating your graphic, deduct the channel measurements from the display panel specifications above. This is your image area.  We would recommend that no text element or complete visual design element exceed 1/2″ (.5) – 3/4″ (.75) from the display panel edges.   Note:  When uploading your graphic it will display in a proofing window.  The solid edge around the window reflects that channels.

How do I create a PDF?

  • See our PDF Templates on the Upload Page.  These Templates are made for Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, QuarkXpress, Freehand, CorelDRAW, and Microsoft Publisher.  These Templates will assist you in your design layout and file settings in creating a PDF.  WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU USE THEM.
  • Create in CMYK color mode.   Any spot colors must be converted to CMYK process.  Documents created in RGB mode will require color conversion and may result in unpredictable results.
  • Resolution:  Set DPI to minimum 100 and maximum 300.
  • Text elements must be converted to outlines (paths, curves) prior to saving as a PDF.
  • Color Settings: CMYK set to:  US Web Coated (SWOP) v 2    RGB set to: Adobe RGB (1988). These settings are what we use as profiles (box of Crayons) for our printers.   Note:  If neither of these color settings is available, use generic CMYK and RGB settings or your software default settings.
  • Photographic images (or elements that are resolution –dependent) must have a minimum resolution of 100 dpi and no greater than 300 dpi – at final print size – 100%.  Note: Scaling a lower resolution image to a larger size (upsampling) is discouraged, as it will cause noticeable image degradation in the final printed display panel.
  • PDF Preset:  Set to: PDF/X-1a: 2001

o    We recommend if you have Adobe Distiller to use it create your PDF file.

Customizing Your Sign

What kind of image should I use for a photograph?

  • If you’re using a photograph, then you should use a good resolution JPG image. Try to find the highest quality image with a file size less than 6 Megabytes (6 MB).

What kind of image should I use for a logo or clipart?

  • To use a logo, or some type image created by a graphics professional from solid lines and colors (specifically called ‘vector art’), then EPS is the best choice. By using an EPS file in your design, you can retain the sharp lines in your original image, even if the file size you use is very small. If you do not have access to an EPS file, then GIF or PNG file formats will provide you with the next best print quality. Again, try to find the highest quality image with a file size less than 6 Megabytes (6 Mb).

Where can I get a high quality image for my sign?

  • Check with you internal graphic design department to see if one has already been created. Or, you can purchase your custom original logo and sign designs for a very competitive price through our Sign Design Service program. These designs are created specifically for you by our own graphic design artists. Take a look at our services here and/or call our fantastic customer support team at 1-800-330-9622 or email them at support@buildasign.com to find out more about how we can help you design anything you need for your signs!

How can I tell if my image is good?

  • One way to see the quality of your image is to open it in a image viewer (if you don’t have one of these, you can use the BuildASign.comâ„¢ design tool). Zoom in on the image, or enlarge it a great deal, and see if the image is very grainy. This is a good indication of a poor quality image. In general, it is good practice to find the highest quality image you can.

Do We Offer Imaging or Graphic Design Services?

  • Yes! Our Sign Design Services cover almost all of your sign printing needs. From sign and logo design to touchups and image cropping, we can help you get your signs and banners looking great.S Contact us: customerservice@ergocan.com

How do you decide the ‘recommended size’ for my image, and the ‘viewable distance’?

  • These calculations are based on the resolution (dots per inch, or DPI) of the image you provide. Uploading a higher resolution image means a larger image will look better at a closer distance. More technically, our system first examines the DPI of the image you upload. Then, based on that DPI, some mathematical formulas and our own experience, it inserts the image into your sign at the maximum size that will likely give you a clean, high-quality image when viewed at a distance of several feet. The system must assume that the image you provide ‘looks good’ to start with, as the only factor used when calculating the recommended physical size is the actual resolution (DPI) of the image you provide.
